The app won't let me log into my eBay account. What should I do?

Your password is case-sensitive so please make sure that you've entered the password correctly and that the keyboard is not automatically capitalising the first letter.

If you have a PayPal Secure ID just add those numbers (without spaces) to the end of your eBay password.

If you still have a problem logging in, we recommend that you uninstall the app completely and download it again from the Android Market.

If you are still unable to log in, please contact our customer support so they can find out if there is a problem with your account.

Why can't I sign into PayPal?

Be sure you are using your PayPal login (which is an email address) and not your eBay user name. The password is case-sensitive so please make sure that you've entered the password correctly and that the keyboard is not automatically capitalising the first letter.

If you are still unable to log in, please contact our customer support so they can find out if there is a problem with your account.

Is the eBay app draining my battery by running in the background?

If you are actively using the eBay app then you will see higher battery usage. However, Android phones have always supported multi-tasking so multiple applications can be running in the background at the same time. If you are not actively using the app, then it is simply open and available to quickly launch but it is not draining your battery any more than any other app on your phone.

Some devices will prompt you with a warning about apps that have been running for an extended period of time. This is not an indication that the battery is being drained, it is simply a warning that the app is running. You can confirm this by checking the battery use details for the device.

If you are concerned about battery use, you can force close any open app using the Applications/Manage applications option found in the device Settings, however, you cannot receive notifications if the app has been closed.

Why is eBay always running a service in the background?

Because mobile notifications are very important for eBay users, the eBay app runs a service in the background to receive and manage notifications for the signed-in user. If your device supports push notifications (Android OS 2.2 and higher), eBay notifications are pushed to your device in near real-time. If you are on a device that does not support push notifications (Android OS 2.1), then the service will check periodically for notifications.

If you want to ensure that the service doesn't start again, either disable all notifications accessed through the Settings menu in the eBay app or sign-out of the app.
